Frequently Asked Questions
Before you dive in
Choosing the right photographer usually comes with a lot of questions. To make things easier, I’ve answered the most common ones couples ask when deciding who feels like the right fit. If something isn’t covered here, reach out anytime - I’m always happy to talk things through.
How long have you been a wedding photographer? How did you get started?
I photographed my first wedding in 2015 for a close friend. What started as a favor quickly turned into something much bigger. I realized I loved documenting real emotion, quiet moments, and the energy of a wedding day as it naturally unfolded.
Since then, photography has grown into a full-time career. I now photograph weddings, elopements, and engagement sessions throughout the year, focusing on moments you’ll still care about decades from now - not just how the day looked, but how it felt.
What services do you offer?
I photograph weddings, elopements, and engagement sessions, as well as couples, families, and portraits. All sessions are on location and focused on natural light rather than studio setups. If you have an idea that isn’t listed, reach out - I’m always open to hearing what you’re planning.
Do you offer engagement sessions?
Yes. Engagement sessions are one of my favorite ways to work with couples before the wedding day. They’re a chance for you to get comfortable in front of the camera, experience how I work, and create meaningful images without the pressure of a timeline.
Engagement sessions are included with most full-day wedding collections and can take place anywhere that feels like you - a city you love, a quiet trail, or somewhere with personal meaning.
We’re awkward in front of the camera. What do we do?
You’re not alone. Most couples feel this way.
I don’t rely on stiff posing or forced smiles. Instead, I guide you into natural movement and interaction. Walking, talking, laughing, and simply being together. My job is to help you feel comfortable so the photos feel honest, not performed.
How would you describe your photography style?
My approach is documentary at its core - focused on real moments as they happen. For portraits and group photos, I offer gentle direction so things stay relaxed and efficient without interrupting the flow of the day.
Editing is clean, natural, and timeless, with attention to light and color rather than trends.
What if the weather doesn’t cooperate?
The weather is unpredictable. I always encourage having a backup plan, but I also adapt quickly. Rain, clouds, or wind don’t ruin great photos - they often add character. Some of the most memorable images happen in imperfect conditions.
How long does it take to receive our photos?
Your full wedding gallery is typically delivered within 6–8 weeks. Many collections include a small preview so you have a few images to share shortly after the wedding.
Do you provide RAW or unedited images?
No. Every image you receive is carefully edited for color, exposure, and consistency. RAW files are unfinished working files and don’t represent the final quality of the work.
Will our photos be watermarked?
No. Your images are delivered clean and unmarked.
Do we own the photos?
Yes. Once delivered, you’re free to print, share, and enjoy your photos for personal use. I simply ask for credit if they’re used for business or publication.
How are the photos delivered?
You’ll receive a private online gallery where you can download high-resolution images, share with friends and family, and order prints if you’d like.
Should we have a second photographer?
A second photographer can be helpful for larger weddings, separate getting-ready locations, or when you want more coverage and perspectives. It’s especially recommended for weddings with over 150 guests. We can decide together what makes sense for your day.
Are travel fees included?
Yes. Travel and taxes are included in wedding collections so there are no surprises.
How do we book our date?
Start by filling out the contact form with your date, location, and details. I’ll follow up with availability, collections, and we’ll schedule a time to talk. If we’re a good fit, I’ll send a contract and retainer to officially reserve your date.
Do you photograph weddings in Washington DC and Northern Virginia?
Yes. I regularly photograph weddings throughout Washington DC, Northern Virginia, and Maryland, and I’m familiar with venues, timelines, and lighting challenges across the region.
What makes documentary wedding photography different?
Documentary photography focuses on real moments as they happen rather than staging or directing the day. The goal is to preserve how your wedding actually felt, not just how it looked.
How many photos will we receive?
Most full wedding days result in 700–900 fully edited images, depending on the length of coverage and events.
Do you help with wedding timelines?
Yes. I help couples build realistic timelines that allow space for real moments while keeping the day relaxed and efficient.
Are you insured, and do you have backup equipment?
Yes. I’m fully insured and always work with backup cameras, lenses, and storage to protect your images.
